RM 150 FOR 2.5 HOURS OF UNLIMITED BOOZING IN HONG KONG'S 'GOLD' RESTAURANT/BAR

KEE@FSWMAG.COM

GETTING SLOSHED IN HONG KONG'S TOP BARS, CAFES AND RESTAURANTS IS EXPENSIVE AS WE ALL KNOW SINCE HONG KONG IS NOTORIOUS FOR BEING ONE OF THE PLANET'S COSTLIEST CITIES.

So it is with great pleasure I recommend getting tanked at GOLD by Harlan Goldstein at Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong island's most popular and hottest wateringhole filled with uber-chic eateries and drinkeries.

For a mere RM 150, you can drink till kingdom come or pass out on the famous Terrace overlooking all the beautiful people below.

A normal drink at highclass, high-calibre and high-faluting bars like GOLD by Harlan Goldstein averages RM 30 to RM 40. So if you down 5 glasses over 2.5 hours, you already get more than your money's worth!

And you do get good wines and spirits, not some poison distilled in the basement! No Dom Perignon or Moet I am afraid but this price is certainly a fantastic bargain in a high-end place like GOLD where the hip and happening gather.

No more keeping track of your bill and wondering if you have accidentally ordered the priciest drink on the menu by a slip of pronunciation. Pay once and you are set to enjoy a fab weekend!

About Harlan Goldstein

Gold by Harlan Goldstein opened on November 19, 2010. Located on the second floor of LKF Tower, Gold is a must-go experience for its ‘wow’ factor alone – with the glitter of gold as its vibrant design. Gold by Harlan Goldstein’s diverse modern European menu is inspired by the ethnic and international cuisines of his Lower East Side New York roots. As always, diners can expect unique food from Harlan Goldstein whereby he puts his own twist with a variety of different techniques including smoking and slow cooking to maintain the natural flavour and moisture of ingredients.

In May 2012, larger-than-life New Yorker Harlan returns to his roots, opening a 1940s New York-style steakhouse called Strip House by Harlan Goldstein in Lan Kwai Fong, Central. At Strip House by Harlan Goldstein, nostalgic melodies of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and sultry ‘Big Apple’ jazz complements themed period décor in rich, warm red, charcoal and silver. Sizzling charcoal-grill specialties are more contemporary – headlined by hearty double-cut, grass-fed Fiorentina rib-eye steaks and juicy organic Japanese pork chops. With edgy undertones of a venue somewhat more risqué than a ‘strip loin’ steakhouse, the restaurant’s name ‘Strip House’ is intentionally tongue-in-cheek.

Harlan established his name in Hong Kong at Aberdeen Marina Club, followed by the signature restaurant Harlan’s and the offshoot three-venue concept at IFC, H One, The Box and G Bar.

Harlan is no longer affiliated with any of the other restaurants in Hong Kong including Harlan’s at The One in Tsim Sha Tsui.
