This is Dahlia Noir EDP and the top is EDT

BLACK FLOWERS ARE NOT NATURAL IN NATURE AS BLACK IS BAD FENG SHUI.

Black signifies destruction as in blackened burnt buildings, decay as in blackened, rotting food and death as in the plague Black Death.

You wear black clothes at funeral the same way you wear bright, happy colours at children's birthday, anniversary, marriage or celebration.

Thus there is no such thing as a black dahlia or dahlia noir in French.

But this is precisely the colour chosen by Riccardo Tisci, the creative director of Givenchy since 2005. Dahlia Noir is the first fragrance created by Tisci, inspired by an imaginary flower despite the fact dahlias come in all sorts of colours and are among the prettiest flowers. Dahlias are among my favorite flowers though too bad they don't grow well in tropical Malaysia or my garden would be full of them!

L1240793.JPG A black dahlia is like the legendary black tulip which is even more talked about. For centuries, man tried creating the black tulip which is now fairly successful as there are genuinely black tulips as opposed to very dark blue or inky red ones!

Still, black dahlias are still a figment of the imagination as frankly, there is only a small market for black flowers unless you are attending a funeral.

L1240793.JPG Launched at Centrecourt at  Suria KLCC by Prestige Products, Dahlia Noir is a sensational success and Riccardo Tisci's job is not only assured by his salary increased!

The Eau de Parfum is not one of those light, breezy and sporty scents containing lemon and citrus fruits and meant for day. Dahlia Noir, like its name implies, is for night (though I use it for day too!) and is an oriental perfume, heavy, intoxicating, exotic and sensual. This powdery, floral chypre is based on rose, iris and mimosa with woody accents. It is warm, ashen and balm-lie. It sells from RM 234 to RM 333 to RM 396 for the 75 ml bottle.

Dahlia Eau de Toilette is a more luminous, fruitier version with zesty notes of mandarin orange, lemon and peach, sweet as fruits hanging from dew-laden trees! This EDT sells for RM 190, Rm 267 and RM 324 so many will think it is the poor cousin to the heavier and more intense EDP or Eau de Parfum.

There is also the Dahlia Noir Body Milk (RM 175) and Dahlia Noir Shower Gel (RM 167) so you can be completely saturated with this scent! You can also fragrance your room or boudoir with Dahlia Noir Scented Candles! Perfect when you are feeling low or when your hubby, lover, toyboy or sugar daddy is coming!

Bath were created by Francois Demachy in collaboration with Riccardo Tisci and are geared for the femme fatale that lurks inside all women.

The 2 bottles are identical except the cover for Dahlia Noir is black. The shape is spare, restrained and simple, with clean architectural lines. It may not stand out among your more creative bottles on your dressing table but its contents will!

Of course there are people like me who are not satisfied with Dahlia Noir's simple bottle so Riccardo Tisci has another version---the Baccarat bottle! Dahlia Noir Baccarat has produced a crystal bottle with a stopper attached to the stopper so you can dab the scent on your neck instead of spraying it and wasting bits of it to the air. Each Baccarat bottle is numbered from 1 to 200 and comes in 50ml version only. And exquisitely presented in its own lacquered, mirrored box to be displayed long after the fragrance is finished.

Of course God forbid you should throw away the Baccarat bottle once the scent's used up! Only 200 bottles are available worldwide so get yours now before they are gone like a ghost like cock's crow! At US$ 1,500 (over RM 4,600) you wouldn't, would you?

Dahlia Noir is a true couture fragrance...

This new perfume Dahlia Noir smells deliciously mysterious, like the smell of your lover after sex.

Speaking of sex, there were plenty of sexy objects floating around, led by heart throb Alan Yun who looks all of 25 but he is above 30 I am told. As one of Malaysia's most famous models, actors and celebrities, Alan Yun was there both as a star and staff as he was helping Prestige Products as well. Don't say he is just a pretty face.

Those who were there strictly for show were celebrities, beauty queens and former Miss Malaysias like Rachel Tan, Carrie Lee, Chermaine Poo, Megan Tan, Patricia Knudsen, Atilia, Donna, Annie Phung and Theresa Zhang.

A dancer dressed in loose flowy dress that resembles the extravagant couture gown worn by the French model. Emcee Patricia K invited the lovely ladies for a photo opportunity and guests received a bottle with their names engraved on the cover!

By chance or design, most came in black except for hot singer Atilia who opted for orange!
