'The Art of Time', now into its second year, runs from 4 to 14 October at The Pavilion at the Concourse. Go there now and view the latest watches released this year at Basel Fair. Organised by Swiss Watch Gallery owned by Valiram Group, this is a selling exhibition and not just for show so bring your platinum plastic.

Some of the planet's watches had set up shop here and it is open to the public during the day. As a sponsor and media partner, The Star Media Group hosted a cocktail and canapes party on Monday, 8 October and invited its guests and friends.

Drinks like there was no tomorrow and guests made themselves comfy on the many sofas as they mingled and tangled.

Sharan Valiram from the Valiram Group which runs Swiss Watches Gallery, the organiser of 'The Art of Time' made a welcome speech.

This was followed by a speech by Ho Kay Tat, the Group Managing Director and CEO of The Star Media Group in which he explained why The Star, long the champion of the ordinary man in the street, is also involved in upscale projects. After all, he noted both The Star and high end watches share similar traits of excellence!

Drinks and fingerfood in hand, guests examined the booths featuring wrist wonders from Cartier, Jaeger LeCoultre, Bell & Ross, TAG Heuer, IWC, Ulysse Nardin, Richard Mille, Graham, Girard-Perregaux and Vertu which is not a watch but high-class, high-cost phone with concierge service. All phones tell time anyway.

The high light was a light-hearted parody of a radio talk show from Capital FM which happens to be owned by The Star Media Group.

A table was set up and, er, manned by 3 women, Asha Gill, Xandria Ooi and the indefatigable Joanne Kam Po Po. The last two played the roles of Datins while Asha Gill was the radio talkshow host.

Not just the writers but also advertising staff of The Star are getting younger and sexier and with more cleavage as proven by Chermaine Lim and Pee (what a provocative surname) Kah Heng from account servicing. "Would you like a Pee on your account?"
