DUBAI WATCH WEEK 2016
Masters of Time - Watchonista sets the tone

For its second edition, scheduled from 15 to 19 November 2016, Dubai Watch Week once again extended an invitation to Watchonista.com online media platform.

On Thursday 18 November at 3 p.m., Alexander Friedman, co-founder of Watchonista, will be co-ordinating the discus-sion forum '100 years of watchmaking'. Joined for the occasion by ex-perts and eminent persons in watchmaking, such as the talented watchmaker, Philippe Dufour, and Christian Selmoni, creative director at Vacheron Constantin, he will be giving us the benefit of his knowledge of the history of watchmaking and its evolution.

Alexander Friedman will also be attending the round table on the "challenges facing a retailer". Boasting many top quality contributors, this year's event is on the fasci-nating theme of the 'Masters of time', an illustration of the watchmaker's achievements throughout time.

Alexander Friedman regards DWW as a key event for the profession and told us of his delight at being one of the few guest speakers: 'For one week, Dubai is the world watchmaking capital: you get to meet friends, watchmaking professionals and swap ideas.

Watchmaking events already have a certain standing in Europe, Asia and the United States, and so it was crucial to be able to bring all this knowledge and know-how to the Middle East. It was a successful wager for the Seddiqi family, the event's organisers, as the second edition of the Dubai Watch Week was an immediate sell-out.'

GPHG heads out for Dubai
GPHG 2016
As co-organiser of Dubai Watch Week, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) will be using DWW to exhibit the winning watches from the fair. Brands will be more than satisfied with the new media - and commercial - showcase! And as media partner of GPHG, Watchonista has already produced an insider's report on the incredible buzz surrounding the announcement of the winners on the evening of 10 November 2016 in Geneva.

The winning models and prizes awarded can be found on the space dedicated to GPHG: competing models, original articles, interviews, press releases and the timetable for the travelling exhibitions featuring the prize-winning watches. To find out all about the GPHG click on: special page.

The watches from the GPHG will be on display throughout the Dubai Watch Week, at the Galerie Ayyam, gate 10 in the village.

Dubai Watch Week - A family affair
Dubai Watch Week
Dubai Watch Week is an international event devoted to craftsmanship and innovation in watchmaking. It was devised and founded by the Seddiqis, a renowned family of retailers in the Middle East. Fired by passion, the third generation of the family is now taking over the activities of Ahmed Seddiqi and Sons.

The event was born out of a desire to share watchmaking expertise and bring it to a wider audience. It is an ideal platform for watchmaking professionals to debate and discuss the challenges of tomorrow or discover the latest technologies.

Forming the vibrant focal point of the week are a series of forums, or panel discussions, as well as exhibitions and a number of exclusive public events. Synergies were specifically created with some of the key institutions in the world of watchmaking with a view to bringing the finest and best to the event.

Institutions such as the Fine Watchmaking Foundation, which is presenting its travelling exhibition 'The Conquest of Time', and the Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève, showcasing this year's prize-winning watches.

In the meantime, you can read all about GPHG on Watchonista.com.
